Frequently Asked Questions

What's a good way to get started using AttendanceIQ?

You basically just need to create an event, set a date and add attendees to the date. You can then add more dates and your list of attendees for the event will be used for the new dates. It takes a few steps, but it's easy to get the hang of.

Grab your phone and fire up the AttendanceIQ app...

Touch the + button at the top of the Events screen, then enter the name of your event and hit "Done". Touch "Add a new date", add the first date/time for your event, then touch "Done". Touch the date, then touch the + button at the top of the next page. Some options will slide into view: touch "Add new person" to add a new person to AttendanceIQ. Enter their first and last name or touch "Import from Address Book" if the person is already in your iPhone Contacts. Touch "Done" when you're finished adding the person, then touch the "back" button at the top of the screen (it will have your event's date in it) and you will see the person has been added to the list for your event's date. Add each person whose attendance will be expected, then touch "Done" to finish your list.

Touch the "Event Info" button to return to the list of dates for your event, then touch the "People" button at the bottom of the screen. That will show you a list of all of the attendees for your event (for all dates). Any time you add a new date, those people will be automatically added to the date, which makes it really easy to re-use your attendee list (you can always modify the attendees for each date as needed).

How do I mark people absent and present?

Go to the event, pick a date and you'll see the list of attendees. By default they're all marked Present, indicated by a black checkmark next to their name. To mark them absent, touch their name or the checkmark: the checkmark will disappear and their name will turn red, telling you that they're now marked absent. If you'd like to remember more information, like why they were absent or whether they were late or left early, touch the blue arrow to the right of their name, then pick one of the Present or Absent statuses (like "Late", "Sick", etc) and add a text Note if you want to.

Any status you set will show up under their name for that date of the event. It will also be used in the stats on their attendance history. If remembering why someone was absent is important, using statuses is a good idea.

Why is everyone marked "Present" by default?
We just thought it would save you time if we did it this way. If you prefer having everyone marked absent by default you can go into the AttendanceIQ settings (at the bottom of the main screen) and switch "Present by default" from ON to OFF.
What are Statuses all about?
Sometimes it's important to know more than just whether a person was present or absent. You might want to remember that they were sick or were late or left early, etc. We made it easy to remember these things by providing "statuses" that you can set any time you record someone's attendance. You can modify the statuses to suit your needs, either by touching the "Statuses" button at the bottom of the main screen, or when you are setting the status for someone's attendance on any date.
Can I use contacts from my iPhone Contacts list?
Yes. When you add a person to an event, select "Add new person", then touch "Import from Address Book" to get a picker that lets you pull someone's name from your main Contacts into AttendanceIQ. When you do so, a relationship is created between the person in AttendanceIQ and the record in your iPhone Contacts. When you view the person in AttendanceIQ you will be able to see and edit any of the contact info from the Contacts app, like email address, phone numbers, etc. If that extra information is important to you and you have the contact in you iPhone Contacts application, this is a good way to go.
Sometimes I hit "Edit" and don't see an "Add" button to add a new person or date. Where is it?
This usually happens if you're looking at a list of people or dates that scrolls off the bottom of the screen. The "Add" button is at the bottom of the list. Scroll down to the bottom and you'll see it.
Can I rearrange the order that my Events are displayed in?
Yes. Touch the "Edit" button at the top of the Events list, then hold down the 3-lined icon at the right side of any Event you'd like to move up or down the list. Drag the Event up and down the list, and let go when it's where you want it.
Is there a way to backup my data?
We recommend using the backup utility in iTunes to backup all of your iPhone data regularly.
