You basically just need to create an event, set a date and add attendees to the date. You can then add more dates and your list of attendees for the event will be used for the new dates. It takes a few steps, but it's easy to get the hang of.
Grab your phone and fire up the AttendanceIQ app...
Touch the + button at the top of the Events screen, then enter the name of your event and hit "Done". Touch "Add a new date", add the first date/time for your event, then touch "Done". Touch the date, then touch the + button at the top of the next page. Some options will slide into view: touch "Add new person" to add a new person to AttendanceIQ. Enter their first and last name or touch "Import from Address Book" if the person is already in your iPhone Contacts. Touch "Done" when you're finished adding the person, then touch the "back" button at the top of the screen (it will have your event's date in it) and you will see the person has been added to the list for your event's date. Add each person whose attendance will be expected, then touch "Done" to finish your list.
Touch the "Event Info" button to return to the list of dates for your event, then touch the "People" button at the bottom of the screen. That will show you a list of all of the attendees for your event (for all dates). Any time you add a new date, those people will be automatically added to the date, which makes it really easy to re-use your attendee list (you can always modify the attendees for each date as needed).
Go to the event, pick a date and you'll see the list of attendees. By default they're all marked Present, indicated by a black checkmark next to their name. To mark them absent, touch their name or the checkmark: the checkmark will disappear and their name will turn red, telling you that they're now marked absent. If you'd like to remember more information, like why they were absent or whether they were late or left early, touch the blue arrow to the right of their name, then pick one of the Present or Absent statuses (like "Late", "Sick", etc) and add a text Note if you want to.
Any status you set will show up under their name for that date of the event. It will also be used in the stats on their attendance history. If remembering why someone was absent is important, using statuses is a good idea.
